Flying Lanterns were originally used in the Far East centuries ago as a means of communication within their armies. Now they can be the ultimate romantic addition to any birthday, wedding, social gathering, new year’s eve, even firework displays!
They work on the principle of hot air rising (similar to a hot air balloon) to give them lift, and can reach heights of 1000m.
They have already become popular at festivals with people writing wishes inside them. The closer they reach to the heavens the more likely your wishes will be heard!
So is it safe? Yes. The lanterns are made from flame retardant materials so as to not catch fire. When the fuel finally burns out the lantern will gently fall back down to the ground. Obviously this kind of thing still requires common sense and adult supervision at all times. Care must be taken when lighting the lantern and no obsticles to obstruct it as it rises.
