2016 is set to become the year of virtual reality. We can now visit alien landscapes or take a ride on an exhilarating roller coaster without leaving the comfort of our arm chairs. The only problem is that all the headsets are incredibly bulky and if we’re being completely honest make you look a little silly.Well not anymore. Thanks to a breakthrough in nano technology some clever boffins have managed to miniaturise LEDs to no bigger than a pin head which means they are now small enough to be placed on the inside of a contact lens!
The most incredible aspect is the battery life. Because the LEDs are so small they require a miniscule amount of energy, so little in fact they are actually powered by electrical impulses that your body naturally creates! A conductive battery absorbs this latent energy and powers the lenses. Crazy!
The VR Contact Lenses will work with any existing VR game found on all smartphone app stores, with APRF16, the company behind this technological game changer, set to release new apps throughout the year! Tiny accelerometers pick up on head movement to create the ultimate VR experience!
